zkSync supposedly launching zkEVM in 100 days
Posted on 7/20/22 at 6:37 pm to Hulkklogan
Polygon announced their zkRollup as well, with a tentative launch time frame of "early 2023"
LINK
The future of Ethereum scaling is very, very close.
Im positioned with ETH, MATIC, and i should be receiving some zkSync tokens when they airdrop

Can you explain why this is a big deal vs just developing on zcash for example, which uses zero knowledge?

zkEVM.. smart contracts.. zkRollups themselves arent privacy focused (unless they make them so).
One of the advantages of ZK Rollups over Optimistic Rollups is that, instead of publishing all the transaction data, ZK Rollups can publish only state diffs, thus making less storage changes.
Other rollups, like Arbitrum and Optimism, have a 7 day finality before txs are settled on ethereum.. zkrollups are hours.

Excellent read Hulk.
I don't mean to sound like a homer, but it makes me even more pumped for Pulse. You don't have to do any of that extra stuff or have any of those issues on Pulse.

Eh I wouldn't be so sure in the long term. Most alt-L1s will likely move to a rollup-centric roadmap over time. If we really get mainstream adoption, the world needs a shite ton of block space. This especially true for Pulse as an ETH fork. AVAX has subnets for scaling, which kinda-sorta act like built-in rollups.
But definitely not in the short term

Anybody use Strike app? Just found out about it, no fees to buy bitcoin and apparently you only pay the bitcoin lighting network fee to withdraw it to cold storage. Seems like good way to keep fees low for DCA. I'm just wondering how it's sustainable for the app.

You have a ledger right? What's the best route if you were to sell to get fiat in your bank account?
Posted on 7/21/22 at 2:10 pm to 21JumpStreet
You'd have to send it from the ledger back to an exchange, Coinbase pro, gemini, binance.US ect.

That's so far off for pulse. Richard has stated he already has plans for when that time comes....a looooong time from now.

quote:I use a Coldcard now and run my own node. Just a more beefed up level of security for a cold storage, probably overkills. Nevertheless, I'd go through the same process as if I still used my Ledger - send BTC to an exchange or Strike, sell BTC, transfer proceeds to bank. Would take a total of about 5 minutes

Did they ever publish their criteria for the airdrop? I haven't done much other than use their test net.

Ok thought there might be a different/better way since these exchanges are pausing/taking a long time for withdrawals.

No its all speculation.
I have funds in an argent wallet and use zksync, and im going to start doing some smart contract testing on 2.0 testnet

Does anybody know if there are credit card processing companies that are working on implementing the lightning network for businesses? 3% credit card fees for the company I work for is a substantial fee. Would be nice if someone was able to implement something below 1%.
I know Strike can do it, but we would need a way to store credit cards and process them in bulk once a month.

All quiet in the crypto thread... the bubble finally pop with all these companies tanking? We tried to tell you guys.
I know you Hex and pulse bros like to hold out hope that those will save you but hex is getting crushed and pulse still doesn't exist. "pulse is going to retire us"
