It’s a blow to crypto in the short run. Crypto was another non-Chinese asset they could invest in but now all that money will instead go to US/Canadian real estate and other foreign equities. Real estate on the West coast may get another bump up.

That’s not even what they did. They just said frick miners and this isn’t state sanctioned money.

Wait, why would they stop mining? I had assumed much of that was government-sanctioned with cronies reaping rewards.
From what a I read they blocked all the exchanges like Binance and warned financial institutions not to participate in cryptocurrency. No converting between Yuan and Crypto. This would make crypto very unattractive for most citizens.
Then again, China is a giant black box to me.
