I mean ETH is ETH. A fork is a new project. ETH Classic isnt and wasn't a new project. The major team of ETH stayed with Ethereum to keep improving it.
Pulse is a project copying Ethereum code and doing their own thing with it. Like BNB for example....

I invest in a lot, but we have to be real about this. ETH is the 1st mover in the smart contract and DEFI space. If ETH 2.0 does what it says, gonna be hard for another project to overtake them for some time.

i dont think any project will overtake ETH anytime soon, but can they steal market share? yes. binance smart chain already took a chunk
like you said, it really comes down to ETH 2.0... which really just seems like a marketing gimmick at this point. its already had numerous delays

While true, all these others outside of DOT and ADA are just clones of ETH which haven't solved ETH's major problem either. Scalability.
Long game I like DOT and ADA for the Blockchain 3.0 space.
You are right about BNB. Being that they are an exchange and also have their own ecosystem, if I was to speculate on a new short term #2, it would be BNB.

vitalik changed the monetary issuance policy. so while the supply is unlimited, they are now planning to burn coins to make eth deflationary, which would then decrease the total supply each year
they are calling it "ultra sound money" - this is scheduled for july

You don’t report when you buy/sell money market funds though (I would consider stable coins the crypto equivalent). The IRS typically only cares that the gains match up.

The question was what will happen to ETH, not what is better in theory.
