So as a former NYL agent, why did you leave? What is the benefit to going into management after 2-3 years? I am looking for any and all feedback positive/negative.
Sorry for just now getting back to you. I left because I was offered a job in medical device sales which is the industry I always wanted to get in but got rejected multiple times early on. I made some good money at NYL, hit council (this is based on production and where you win trips, etc. and what your consideration for promotion to management lies), and was able to set my own schedule. You will be pushed to sale life insurance (whole, term, universal) but can sell fixed investment products such as annuities. Down the road they will want you to get your Series 6 license to start selling securities, which you should definitely do (also have to have this license to go into management I believe). You will create a prospect list of family members, friends, old coworkers, etc. and that will be where you start. You can purchase leads and they will provide some luke warm leads from the system that had agents leave or they aren't being serviced. In my opinion, if you are going to get into insurance/financial services sales, NYL is going to give you the best opportunity to succeed. They have a solid training program.
In regards to going into management, the pros would be you grab that salary and get some commissions on your team's production. Management isn't for everyone but if you're a good coach, teacher, and motivator, it's a great opportunity. If you are a hardnosed seller, then stick to being an agent because the earning potential is unlimited. This goes back to why top agents don't consider management. You don't necessarily have the freedom or earning potential you do as an agent. You will constantly be fielding calls from agents and making sales runs with them to help them learn the ropes.
Hope this was helpful. NYL helped me get into medical device sales and I learned a lot there. Best of luck!

That’s the question most struggling 100% commission salesmen ask themselves.
Every salesman that is 100% commission knows they have to sell to make money. If he is working full time as an agent and giving his commissions away, how does he eat? Also, don't get caught doing this or your in deep shite.
