Mines tripled. Probably from the 50k roof payout from the last hurricane.

Between my Insurance and my property taxes going up every year it really makes you think about going elsewhere but then you remember you got such a great mortgage rate a few years back and say never mind.

The insurance on my place in Florida has gone up about that much recently. I’d like to buy it outright and self insure, but can’t do that yet.

If you don’t have a decently new roof you won’t get a new policy. I tried. My roof is a decade old

Mine has gone from 14k four years ago to over 65k this year. Sucks arse for sure

Do you mean $1400 / $6500?

That seems absurd. Even on a multi million property

It is all about how old your roof is.

Get class 4 or better shingles.

I'm sorry - you're paying $5,400 per month for homeowners insurance?

Actually, that doesn't sound absurd at all. The high-end home insurance carriers have either exited the Louisiana market or have made it so expensive that they want you to roll of their insurance rolls. 2025 we are looking at another 25% increase for insurance state-wide over 2024's rates and that's assuming we do not have another Hurricane according to the La. DOI.

Anyone else have experience with this who may have some advice?

All home insurance has gone up in DFW. No escaping it here. I stopped around for slightly cheaper coverage, but it’s still up significantly.

They’ll refund you the prorated amount when you cancel.

Insurance is thankfully not the shite show here that it is in much of the rest of S LA right now.

Not sure why this got downvoted. It is absolutely true.
