Read a SHTF book by a guy who lived it.
He said bars are a bad idea.
The problem with shite like bars is they are uncommon, so when someone presented a bar they were followed, assaulted/robbed/etc because the thought was if they have a bar, they definitely have more than one and being they probably prepped (because who else has bars laying around) they have other shite squirreled away too.
What DID work: Jewelry. Rings, etc. If you're trading for something and were like here's my wife's wedding ring off her finger so we can pass through here / for these goods' or 'this is my grandma's prized necklace and it's all we have take it' then people tended to assume you were as hard up as they were and would agree to the trade and not pursue it further. It also worked in shakedown situations.
It makes sense from a practical perspective, just some advice.

Do you think canned pinto beans OR silver bars will have more value if paper currency goes to nothing?
It’s more of the case that the Fed just keeps debasing the dollar because they can.
Just like they have been doing for decades. Increasing the time to generate wealth.
Next thing you know you are 70, knees don’t work, and you have no real wealth.
Dollars will always be around, they will just continue to buy less and less and when most realize it truly, it’s already too late.
