Hey guys

I'm half way through the MBA program for General Business. I just have ACCT 701 and FIN 701 left for the core and then its time to start registering for the 3 elective courses.

Any recommendations for best professors for acct and fin 701?

Also any recommendations for the easiest electives to take?

I had Vines for Fin 701. There is no text book, just about 7-8 pages of single spaced notes/text that Prof Vines prepared. The only work due is 4 test - one for each of the four modules. It took a minute to get used to reading his notes, but he was very helpful and reachable. He'd respond to questions posted in the discussion forum AND before every test opened, he hosted a zoom call that would last as long as people had questions. I highly recommend his class, with the warning that his notes/texts are a bit tricky to get used to at first.

Hello,
Curious to know how the class (ACCT 725) is set up..1 test/week + quiz assuming? For an accountant, do you think it would be possible to double this class with say ISDS (while working 45 hrs/week)?

Thank you so much for your response. Does he give example problems of what will be on the exam? Or perhaps, anything like a study guide or practice assessment?

I have read that his exams are open-ended and does give partial credit, which makes me feel a little better. I have no finance background whatsoever, so I'm nervous!

Thanks again for your response and for the insight into his class– it is a huge help!

Does anyone know if you can get a C in a non-Concentration course (ie: the general courses they make you take) and still graduate? I had some serious difficulties here this AP. This is my final course and I have done well in all my others (Mostly A’s with scattered B’s) My wife & I had a baby to start the AP, so the first two-three weeks of MADM class my grade suffered because of it. I have been able to recover but am worried that I will be denied the ability to graduate if I finish with a C. I am teetering right at 78.5% so this is going to be a photo finish. Just wondering if I should stress unnecessarily or not.

from what i understand, you are allowed 1-2 Cs in the program as long as you stay above a 3.0.

into the 6th week now and ISDS 730 Lean Transformation with Darrat is pretty much as easy an A as you can get. Nothing really hard hitting or analytical to wrap your mind around. No books to read, just a series of short videos and articles to review. Studying for the proctored exam is unnecessary... the questions are so easy that only a quick run through of the week's material is necessary to Ace it.

One downside is that there are team assignments which can he a pain to deal with. Fortunately for me my team is on the same in that we all want to just blast through the assignments as quickly as possible without messing around.

Hello Everyone!

Very excited to start the MBA program this fall.

For AP1 I am planning on paring MBA 775 - Hosp.& Casino MKT with MBA 701 - ECON Anlys-Mgt. The professors are Kim and Fawaz respectively. What are your opinions of these two courses with these professors? Is it doable to achieve an A in both while having a full time job.

For Fall AP2, I'm thinking Casino & Resort Management with O'Donnel pared with Management Information Systems with Lin.

Really looking forward to your advice!

IMO, Fawaz is the best option for Econ705. I believe Lin ISDS705 is 3 to 4 exams with no busy work. Both are pairable courses. Many say Vines Fin701 is pairable also. Good luck.

I took Kim FIN701. His teaching style is similar to Fawaz and Ambrosio, very HP calculator-based. Exams come from his powerpoints and zooms. I took him solo so I can't say if his class is pairable, but I think he is the best choice for FIN.

thanks, I always assumed it was some loser who somehow flunked out the program despite it being pretty easy and now has nothing better to do than downvote every response

final verdict to ISDS 730 with either Aadel or Loughrin is super easy + low workload A.
There are some annoyances such as having to work in teams and many assignments being very vague with no rubric but its all graded very leniently. You can get through each week's workload in about 3 hours if you and your team are quick.
There is a cumulative final but you probably need like 0-50% on it to secure your A. I scored a 98/105 with literally 10 minutes of review.

Here are the instructors I took based on comments dating back to pg 430 or so. Take into account their APs fill up the quickest. I have ZERO complaints.

Acct701 Ambrosio
Econ705 Fawaz
Fin701 Kim
ISDS705 Lin
MADM701 Kungu
MADM760 Wyatt
MKT701 Chen
Acct720 Ambrosio (only option)
Fin710/720 Hsieh (only option)

I did withdraw from Vines b/c I just couldn't deal with his handwritten notes but some students love him.

Good luck!
