Does he let you use notes for the formulas?
Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for your response. Does he give example problems of what will be on the exam? Or perhaps, anything like a study guide or practice assessment?
I have read that his exams are open-ended and does give partial credit, which makes me feel a little better. I have no finance background whatsoever, so I'm nervous!
Thanks again for your response and for the insight into his class– it is a huge help!

Wow, I'm happy to hear Choi offers that! Do you know if he allows notes on the exam as other FIN701 professors do, or is it all closed book/notes?

For FIN701, Choi or Vines? I have read mixed reviews on both professors. Not a great test-taker and I have no background in finance, which makes me nervous reading the reviews.
Thanks in advance!

WOW, it makes me feel so much better to know this information. I have read horror stories surrounding the course and how much of a time commitment it is. I almost felt as though I could not do it, on top of working 60 hour weeks, family commitments and life stuff as well.
Congratulations on almost finishing out the program! I actually just started, so I have a ways to go.
Any recommendations on other professors for the program? Manageable workload and can be paired with other courses? I would appreciate any insight. Thanks so much!

How is the course set up? I'm wondering how manageable it is and how much time is required weekly. I have read mixed reviews and have been trying to figure out who to take between Si Chen or Minseong Kim.

Does anyone have recommendations on any electives with good professors? Preferably ones that you can take together. I am looking to double up in a session with taking two electives. I am having a hard time finding courses that pair well together with manageable workloads (to balance with a full-time job). I have never taken more than one course in a session, so I am quite nervous. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I am also taking Choi... Would love any insight please. I have read FIN701 is a monster of a course.
Any insight on the professor, course and what to expect would be greatly appreciated!

I have not taken MADM701 with Kungu, but took McLaughlin. Loved the course and the professor is wonderful. The class is very straightforward. Workload is super manageable and the professor is engaged in the course. I enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend MADM701 with McLaughlin.

If you HAVE to take two classes -
I MIGHT consider pairing MADM 760 by Sammy Wyatt with another class.
I MIGHT consider ACT 701 with Fabio Ambrosio with another class.
I would only consider this because based upon the workload AND the teacher's ability, a 2-class workload might work.
The other really involved teacher is Tim Shaughnessy in ECON 705, because Dr. Tim is so involved (2 zooms a week) and the homework assignment (in Excel) is able to be used in the weekly quiz, it might be manageable.
For the record, I haven't attempted pairing any classes.

SO helpful! Thank you so much for the insight. I have not paired two courses together myself either. That being said, I'm thinking of actually pairing two elective courses as my advisor said it would be the only way I could finish on the timeline that I have set out. I am on the general MBA track, so there are many choices and it seems to be flexible. Any electives that you would recommend?
I am jotting down those course and professor recommendations for the ones you have mentioned, though. Thank you again for the insight! It has been so incredibly helpful.

Dave, thank you so much for taking the time to write this thorough, helpful response. Truly. It helped calm a lot of the fears I have had with an online program and having been out of the educational setting for a while now– those fears were big.
I am on the general MBA track, so I have a little flexibility on the courses. Do you know of any interesting, relatively simple elective courses that can be paired with heavy load classes (i.e. ECON701, MKT701)? I have never taken two courses together in a session, so I do not know of the workload.
Thanks again for your help!

Thanks so much for the info. I appreciate it more than you know. Very new to the program, the academic setting and online learning, so the insight sure helps.
Also taking ACCT soon. Do you know anything about Prof. Huang's class? Structure, course setup, anything?

Do you know anything about FIN701 with Lynn Kendall? Class structure, syllabus? Anything? I’ve heard horror stories about the course itself. So nervous as I’m new to the program.

Took McLaughlin for MADM701 and thoroughly enjoyed her course. Absolutely wonderful professor: very responsive, helpful and assignments are very straightforward. You will learn a lot. To be very honest, she is one of my favorite professors in the entire program. Just great all-around.
