There is a new session of MKT701 that opened up for Fall AP1 with Darrat

I took James for MKT 701 and while it was time consuming, I didn't find it to be difficult. I finished with an A.
Anyone here currently taking FIN 710 or MKT 710?

I wound up with an A in James. I'm sure many did because the paper grading is lenient. Could I tell you what I learned each module? Probably not. It was just cram sessions on exams because you have to spend an ungodly amount of time on the project.
The course is just pushing through the 7 weeks. I think around 20-25% of people dropped it. I don't think there's a whole lot wrong with the course outside of completely unrealistic timelines on the parts of the project. I thought the directions given for the project were all over the place. I can't remember the exact details but she COMPLETELY changed an aspect of the solar blanket (was our project theme) 1 week into a 2 week Project. I'm sure someone can chime in that'll remember. Didn't impact me because I hadn't even started it yet but I could imagine many had and were probably miffed.
The exams come from the reading. Read the assigned readings and you'll do fine on them. Some weeks do have a fair amount of reading but it was nothing compared to the Amy Wren had us reading in MADM715 the prior session. And James actually REVIEWED the reading material and exams she was presenting
and gave credit on more than 1 occasion on exam questions that were heavily answered incorrectly

quote:Numbers will be WAY off since this is only Darrat's second time teaching the course whereas James has been teaching it every other term for years. When I took Darrat, there were exams and case studies. They were weighted equally and the case studies were graded pretty lightly. I put forth little effort on the exams but did great on the case studies and made a high B in the course. Take that FWIW
How many people made A’s in James vs Darrats MKT 701?

Same. This class was frustrating due to the amount of work, but in the end I made a very high A.
The material is easy enough. It's her project and timelines that are a bit out there.

They are two different Darrats. The one who teaches ISDS 710 is Mohamad Darrat, the one teaching MKT 701 is Aadel Darrat.

Anyone here currently taking FIN 710 or MKT 710?
I'm in FIN 710. One of the keys for me is to make excel sheets so I can be efficient on the math side and allow for more time on the conceptual side during the exams.

I ended up dropping 702. Started a new job and need full attention on the new position. I stuck it out for 3 weeks however I could see that I was not going to be able to dedicate the time needed.

Anyone of you sign up for the honor society thing?
Posted on 7/27/18 at 7:05 am to SkipDigs
I've done really well on both of the exams in FIN 710 so far, 100 and 97. The practice tests are a good representation of the exams.

I got it in the mail and have been waiting to see if anything popped up on here about it. I am leaning towards signing up for it.
Anyone else?

Regarding the honor society invitations, I'm inclined to skip them. Beyond undergrad they just seem like pointless resume fluff. If you're going to join one, I'd say stick with those recognized by the university for some legitimacy. The administration recently sent an email with the information below noting 3 recognized by the university: Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), founded in 1913, is a business honor society that is restricted to students who are earning degrees at AACSB accredited universities. Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE) is a professional honor society, affiliated with the Academy of Management, that recognizes students for academic achievement in management and administration. Phi Kappa Phi, founded in 1897, is the nation’s oldest multidisciplinary honor society.

I'm probably going to skip them, but all I've received thus far is a letter from one of the non-official societies that I've never even heard of.
The officially recognized societies don't seem to be very on the ball with regard to their invites.

The one I received is The National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi.

quote:They definitely aren't. I finished the program this past term and I met the qualifications for two of them but never heard from anyone regarding joining. I did receive an invitation in the mail for the one that's been mentioned recently but elected to pass on it after doing some research.

You dropped and got a W? How does that effect everything? Can you resign with a W and it not effect your grades/records or graduating?
Posted on 7/27/18 at 11:10 am to Jeaux Cool
I got the invite for that same one and will not "join". For me and what I plan to do I wouldn't put it on my resume because I think it would scream fluff. I've got enough of that already. Any savvy recruiter/HR person would probably only care about the previously mentioned recognized ones if at all. I'm mid-career so I just don't see the value. If I was just starting out I might feel differently.
