Can anyone share any experiences with them? Alternatives? It's only $69 to set one up but if there is something better out there, I don't know about it. Just had a baby and wife wants to set one up so we have all our ducks in a row. TIA

If you live in Louisiana, I do not believe they are a good idea.

Alternatives?

An attorney licensed in the state you live in.

The estate planning that you require is more than you legalzoom can do. I suggest you find a local attorney.

If you are in Louisiana I'd highly suggest against legal zoom and the like. Go see an attorney.

I'm all for saving money, and I've used Legalzoom's form for a will.

If you place any value whatsoever on your time, you will come out ahead to use an attorney that specializes in this for families.

I know of one attorney - a very, very good attorney - that does wills for $500.

If you can go see the attorney posted above for $500 do so. I just paid $3500 for an attorney to do mine in texas

I'm hoping you had some complex issues that required some work. Otherwise I'm about to move to Texas to start writing wills.

Nothing too complex, I own 4 convenience stores, a home, a vacation condo, a stock portfolio, and 2 personal bank accounts, and 4 business bank accounts. It wasn't the most complex estate or anything

It all depends on what you want in the will. Assuming you want everything going to your wife and child you can find a good attorney to draw it up for $200. One for you and your wife for $300-350 as they will just be reciprocal wills. An experienced attorney will already have what you are looking for drawn up on their computer. They will just have their secretary plug in your info and print it out. Anymore than that and you need to shop around. And no I wouldn't use legal zoom etc.

Thanks everyone. That's what I needed to know. No legalzoom for me.
