Listening to the conference call, Per Loof, states that they have very strong demand with a book to bill ratio of 1.2. They essentially ran out of capacity this quarter to fulfill all orders, so that's one reason for the strong numbers. Also, they plan about $60m in capital expenditures and expect that to bring in an extra $100m over the year.

KEM will be a fun ride.

I bought 50 more shares at 18.76.

This drop has me puckering a little though.

You're puckering? I convinced the wife to let me put another $1500 in this morning during the pre-market jump of +2.

I was saying, look we got it. This is solid.

Then the f-ing thing drops -4 at open.

I'm hoping she doesn't ask me crap for a few days at least.

19.63 average cost on 100.

Pretty much the same. I showed her the pre-market value this a.m. after buying 100 shares the other day without letting her know about my plan. Oops.

Then it dropped today and I bought more. Oops again.

I’m in for 150 shares at 19.66

Stout, if I threw a grand at one stock, would you go KEM or AUPH?

AUPH is like every other young Biotech stock, purely speculative at this point. KEM at least has a product AKA underlying value right now. They are also profitable. AUPH is a promise to be profitable IF their product clears clinicals and works. That is to say if they don't get bought out which happens often in pharm/biotech. With all of that being said, if AUPH fulfills its potential the upside is huge.

I won't tell you what to do because I don't like doing that but that's my .02 on it and as I always say, do your own research and decide what you're comfortable with.

FWIW I own both.

All good points. Very appreciated.

And I presume KEM would eventually produce dividends?

I'd go in on both, but only putting so little in, I want to start with as much of one as I can, preferably the one with the lesser amount of risk. AUPH looks really good, but you're right. Given where they are and what still has to happen, there's still a lot of chance involved.

Let me follow that up. I haven't seen it anywhere, but is there a projected ceiling on KEM?

To weigh in, I've seen one estimate of $24. The analyst consensus is around $21, give or take a few cents. One thing you may also want to consider is the $27 52-week high that occurred in November then pulled back 40% on reasons stated earlier in this thread.

I'll offer my two cents on which one to choose by simply asking how much volatility are you willing to handle? If a stock has a small float, then it can be volatile. Also, biotechs like AUPH (and some others I own) have a lot of volatility. Of course KEM fell 7% today on excellent earnings.

So you're saying KEM has a ceiling of $24, at best, and is currently at mid $19? Doesn't leave much room for growth. I did also note their drop today in spite of a good earnings report.

Are there some others that I should be looking at?

Not at best. That's as of now and that's just a combination of analyst projections. Price targets get raised and lowered constantly. I suspect this will happen soon for KEM as well.

As Stout said, not at best. The analyst in question wrote that report a few weeks ago when it was in the $17-$18 range. He also thought it'd hit $24 within a few months.

Given the earnings today and good conference call, I think it'll happen--maybe by April/May. But it's the second and third quarters where KEM should really start to come on as they add their capacity via capital expenditures and continue to work in their partnerships.

Gotcha. Sorry, still very much a novice with this stuff and trying to feel out how it works. Appreciate the input, though.

Down again in premarket. I don’t get it. Solid earnings and joint venture = -10%? I don’t get it.

I’m not letting this one go. Just don’t understand.

It's down on 1.8k shares trade. Premarket is fickle. It's nice to see a stock up PM, but that can be based on 200 shares traded. Don't let PM sway you.

I bought a few hundred shares last week and, of course, am down 8% already.

I am so damned good at losing money because of the recommendations here.
