I just received my property tax assessment and wonder if the assessor thinks so much of my house, is he willing to buy it for what the city thinks it’s worth

Assuming you're talking about Louisiana...

Most parish tax assessors have a lot of info. online.

The sheriff is the tax collector. Depending on the parish, you can often get more info. about previous year's taxes from the sheriff's website once you have the assessment number and/or parcel number.

ETA: If you also have city property taxes, they may be collected by the sheriff along with parish taxes, or sometimes cities collect their own taxes.

Zillow has it listed for some houses. There is one in my subdivision for sale now and Zillow has the property tax history from 2000 to 2020.

County will usually have an online GIS that would have assessors info for each parcel.
