Do any universities in the South have instate tuition for Texas residents? I keep trying to google and figure it out but I can't find any real answer....

I believe Arkansas gives in-state tuition to all border state applicants if you meet certain academic standards. I may be wrong there.

I have a HS senior and have been looking into this extensively.
While states such as Arkansas advertise that they offer instate tuition breaks to Texas residents, the requirements to obtain are essentially the same that most state universities offer all students.
Most state universities require a GPA/ACT combination. Some don't.
The Oklahoma schools are very generous in their out of state offerings.
Unfortunately, LSU is not. And, even for those qualified for an out of state tuition scholarship (3.0/28), out of state tuition at LSU has gotten so high that the scholarship only reduces the total all-in cost to about $30k/year.

I had the same issues coming from Kansas. Extremely difficult to get any OOS scholarship money at LSU and at the time, the budget problem was so bad some of the OOS scholarships didn't even have funding.
I looked hard at going to Oklahoma State. They are very lenient with OOS scholarships and Stillwater is a great town. Would definitely make a visit if your son/daughter is not already considering it.

Yes, look at Academic Common Market.

Would definitely recommend taking a visit to both Stillwater and Norman.
From a cost perspective, OSU actually cheaper than UT and A&M with an ACT of 25/26.
My kid probably going to OU for a variety of reasons.
But, both great alternatives to the 50,000 student schools in Austin and College Station.

Academic Common Market does - but only for certain majors.

Google "Academic Common Market". About 15 states, primarily in the southeast, offer in state tuition to out of state residents IF their state doesn't offer their chosen major and the out of state school does offer it

Academic Common Market doesn't apply to Texas students.

In 2003, LSU gave me in state tuition as an out of state student, but I'm smart.
Not smart enough to have gone to a better school that I would have gotten into however,
The football championships were still worth it. No regrets.
