re: I know it’s stupid to try and time the market, but what about reducing 401K contributions?

Cash out your 401chains and get on disability and food stamps and live like a king

Now and over the next few months is when you want to put more in.

401k is a set it and forget thing. Adjusting allocation as you get older.
If you can time the market that well you shouldn’t be worried about having a 401k.

Like my WL and IUL policies? Neither one has lost money no matter what the market did.

But if you’ve got a lot of investing life left, buy more now than ever. If it continues to go even lower, but even more.
What sucks for me is timing. My employer buys on the 1st. A few weeks later any increase in value from those new contributions are evaporated and the account value is now lower than when the month started.

I maxed my 401k the last two years for the first time and I cut back earlier this year cause I needed more cash. Recently I’ve bumped my percentage up to 25% so I am on track to max again this year.
