Oh Brink no offense taken ... seriously. Just different people with different ideas as it should be.

And yes, Flask and I are certified Cajuns ... I don't even know if I spelled it correctly but I KNOW you spelled it wrong!!!

I think back to an inheritance that was left to me from a great aunt ... she had no children and about 3 mil, most of it was in Exxon stock. Got a little more than 10K and some Exxon stock. Also got a special piece of furniture and a special piece of jewelry ... these 2 mean more to me than the monetary gift!

I didn't take it as bashing at all. And I hope that you didn't when I originally asked you ... was just trying to see if there's something I am missing!

The one thing I regret is that my parents didn't leave me anything from their childhood. Like a toy. Perhaps they didn't have toys since it was the Depression.
I've got a big box of 1950s Topps baseball cards in my closet. It will be for my grandson when I pass.

No offense taken here. That is why I love this board, different opinions all of which have thought behind them and make sense.

I'm 33 and I've had shitty work luck, paid for my own graduate degree, and my 401k is already worth 1/3 of their entire portfolio. All without the benefit of the insane bull markets they've enjoyed. I'm astounded that they aren't worth at least twice what they have. Plus more than half of their wealth was inherited. My dad is fricking lazy IMO.

Apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

So you have 300k in a 401k in 10 years of working with shitty work luck and going to graduate school. You would have had to max out 401k contribution and have returns of 28% plus per year. I call bull shite.

This thread reeks of bull shite or "hey, look at me"
