After speaking with about 40 different people, I finally found out I do not qualify for the credit. When I purchased my house, I received some bond money at closing which is one of the exceptions for receiving the credit.
It would have been nice to get it, but oh well...

this is sad.
I am truly sorry you could not get the credit.
08 people have to pay it back anyway. this sucks if it makes you feel any better.so can I still speed through your town?

It's not biggie really. I'm not hurting for money and have a decent nest egg in my savings. It would have been nice to get though since I'm getting married soon! It's sorta aggravating though, because people who buy in 09 can use bond money and the tax credit togethor. I wish they would give me the different between the bond and the tax credit!

This reminds me of when the IPhone came out for $200 less months after it debuted. People were pissed about that, too.

What if you receive the "gift" for your downpayment?
Does that negate it also?

Can you not receive the tax credit if you were to put a large down payment, say 50%??
