I am indeed. I still live in the same place, about two blocks from Courthouse Metro.

Move up here, you won't regret it. I've been here nine years now and have no intention of leaving.

I will be back here next summer, and then full time the following year. The area is awesome and there are lots of opportunities up here, so im pretty pumped.

Excellent call. There are other good places too, of course, but DC is a great place to hang your hat.

House Buying Anxiety
The wife and I offered asking price on a home. Then we learned that another offer was turned in above asking. Our offer was accepted. Getting anxious as this is by far the largest purchase I've made to date.

Go for it. I don't know if that's considered the Heights or not, but that's what housing is going for out there. Probably $250K for the lot and $95K for the improvements.
That's the going rate out there.

BTW, there's a great coffeehouse; Waldo's at 1030 Heights Blvd. In the back, there's a sign nailed to a tree, "Tigers Fan Parking."

Good luck with the house....and enjoy!

Why do Tiger fans have to park in the back?!?

As not to have to mingle with the UT tea sippers?

That area is considered Timbergrove I believe. Just west of the Heights.

$344k for 1586 sq ft built in 1953? I don't know too much about Houston real estate, but unless you got it way below list price or you work nearby I'd say you probably could have gotten a much better deal in the Houston area.

You are right. It's the land value that makes the big difference. You could get the same house in the burbs for around $100k. Of course, then you'd have to spend 3 hours a day playing bumper cars on the freeways.
Houston is so spread out that land inside the loop close to downtown is at a premium.
