Also, unless you plan to spend a ton of money at Hiltons or spend $40,000 a year for Diamond status, get the no-fee Amex Hilton card as those are the only real differences.

Amex hilton card is good. Relatively easy to accumulate a few nights during the year.

How many points does it generally take to get 1 free night?
7,500 to 80,000 points per free night depending on hotel

Marriott program is better IMO.
The SPG Amex is actually the best but they don't have as many hotels as Hilton/Marriott/IHG

Like it... I have the AMEX one. Used the points several times.

How often do yall typically redeem points on a card?
My primary card is the Chase Amazon Visa card. I've had it for a year in about 2 more weeks. Have built around 33,000 points= $330.
My other one is Citi Forward Visa- About 23,000 points.
I put every single purchase except my rent on those two cards.
The Amazon card, the points don't expire and my goal is to have enough points to get a sweet arse tv when I get into a new house in a couple years.
The citi card points expire after 5 years. Not really planning on anything special with that one. It's my back up when I have the other maxed out (I pay everything off in full every month but my limits are only 2k and 2,500.)
Maxed out recently at times because I've paid off several big purchases on my wedding, car, etc. They get paid off the next day.
