I think they scale things down to more of a boutique experience in smaller markets. A population dense market would still require large buildings. I think you could use malls as a litmus test. If they support large malls they can support large buildings.

Yeah, I'm only out about $500 if it hits zero, so I'm okay. For now, no reason to sell.

When you did go, did you happen to notice all the kids there? Kids need a place to go. Parents need a place to go. This is all about the $$$. Theaters aren't going away.

If they’d make an actually good entertaining movie people would go see it. Hollywood seems content to make horrible shite no one wants to see and tell you how stupid you are for not wanting to see their halfassed propaganda or reheated bullshite sequels masquerading as entertainment

When studios go direct to streaming they’ll cut out the middle man that is theaters for a more direct sink or swim model with their products.

Ummmmm.....the studios were all straight PISSED when HBO Max started offering their blockbusters direct to streaming. Don't think for a second they are "ok" with that. They are not now and never were.

I won't laugh at those losing money. I do recognize what AMC was to me and that is a gamble that had a chance to make some money. For me AMC is not an investment case.If AMC hits 0 I lose 2500ish and I was OK with that going in. I did sell some covered calls at $10 strike that eased the pain some.

If (big if) the vast majority in a similar position hold until Thursday, it has the potential to get fun.

I'm in a similar boat--I bought in with play money and just enjoying the show.

I don’t want to laugh at people losing money, but at this point if they are still investing into this hoping that it’s going to rocket to $20 again, you can only help but laugh.

Even the Dems know they've created a monster. Just look at the battle going on in Chicago with the teachers. Paradigm shift about to happen. No way around it.

Studios will develop their own or find a middle ground partnership with the HBO Max’s of the world. The toothpaste isn’t going back in the tube. Not all the studios will be happy, nor will they all survive. I expect serious consolidation in the industry with this shift. The majors will win in this industry like any other. Disney isn’t stupid. They created Disney+ for a reason.

I wonder if AMC and other theaters develop their own streaming service then pay hollywood/studios an additional $10 per streamer, turn around and charge the streamer an additional $15 to stream the movie, if that would work. Still hype of release dates of movies like they did before except people just watch it at home. I know I, for one, would pay the extra money to watch it at home instead of going to a theater and I can't tell you the last time I've been to a theater. I bet millions more would watch movies on release weekends than before just because they could watch it at home. It'd be a huge profit maker for both the theaters and hollywood.

I'm talking out my arse right now and I'm sure I'm not thinking of a major downside to this idea.

Because people like you sold. It was only going to work if people worked together.

It held pretty strong over the weekend and through the day yesterday.

I agree mostly. AMC's most likely chance at survival is to adapt and consolidate or appeal to more of a niche market
