I just spoke with my agent at Sagesure who manages my policy through FEDNAT. He says that although fednat is cancelling all LA policies, they are going to renew me through another company they manage called “SURE”.

My renewal is in April and Im concerned this is going to be an opportunity for them to gouge me on prices.

Anyone have any intel on SURE as far as pricing and quality?

Should I start shopping around now for a replacement? Any broker recommendations?

Wait what the frick? I have them and I haven't heard anything

ETA: I see now, they're dropping LA and TX after Ida basically. I renewed in August 2021 so I haven't had to worry about it yet. I guess I'll keep an eye on this thread

Gets canceled by Federated National because they’re a shitty company.

Considers going with “Sure”.

Same thing happened to me. My policy went up a little bit but nothing crazy. Some of the reason for the increase is Sure raised my coverage amount. I had to replace my roof after Ida so the discount for a new roof may have offset what otherwise may have been a larger increase.

I’ll edit after I find my rates, but had the same situation and renewed in Dec. Basically, they increased my limits and claimed it’s because the rebuild costs have increased. I cannot shop right now because inadvertently roof damage and no one will write a new policy until repairs are done. so I’m stuck w SURE for now.

My broker said he can shop but the number of companies writing new policies is minimal. He said it would be better to wait a few months then shop. You should definitely shop it, but wait until March, and make sure all repairs are done

Edit: My policy costs went up roughly 38% mainly because they increased my coverage limits 22%

Well, I just received my renewal directly from FEDNAT so apparently they are not completely pulling out of Louisiana.

My premium did increase by $600 but I was actually expecting worse.

Pure or Sure? Pure is for high net worth individuals and is a terrific carrier. Sure I've never heard of before.

Same boat, my original insurance company Maison Insurance is no longer writing policies in Louisiana. FYI, it took me 10 months of going back and forth with those cheap bastards to receive the full amount to repair my house after Laura.

Now my agent said Sagesure is my cheapest option out of the few companies that are available. The price was a little higher, but not much for the amount of coverage they provide.

As for customer service they seem run of the mill, 3.5-4 out of 5 stars on most reviews. Just hoping for the next hurricane they move quickly with claims. Anyone experience their quality after filing a claim?

SageSure was quick to cut me checks for some of my damage. I had to get an attorney involved to get them to pay for the full roof and damaged fence area. Still trying to close it out.

Don’t know why they won’t pay for the full damage, basically only covering areas w missing shingles

Fence: if it didn’t touch the ground, they won’t pay that lf to repair.

They were also very quick to pay my costs to evacuate.
