You hear a lot about salary (im about to enter the workforce) but not as much about benefits. From what I have seen, salary will make up 60-75% of total compensation. Is this generally correct? Can you gurus share some experiences?

My current employer has some great benefits that have made it hard for me to consider leaving. They cover 90% medical, 100% dental, 21 vacation days, 8 holidays, annual bonus around 5% of salary, annual Roth401K contribution of 5% regardless of how much you contribute, they setup an employee stock ownership plan and incredibly flexible schedules. I follow the job market for my field closely, and not many companies come close to matching it.

My wife is fixing to start a new job.
5% match on 401k, $50 child care reimbursement, flexible spending account. I guess mainly standard stuff.

I just had my annual review. Whenever we get compensation changes we get a breakout of our total comp. My salary was 83.7% of my total comp last year.
This year I got a bonus so that will probably push closer to 90% for 2013.
