I’m such a beginner with these type things, but with the approval of weight loss drugs by the FDA, I honestly think the price is going to go even higher once people start to realize they’re able to get it….

It’s the most expensive pharmaceutical stock on the market right now but I’m still considering buying some.

Would any of you advise against it and why?

The weight-loss drug has been priced in long before the approval. I would not make an investment thesis based around the idea that sales of this drug are going to drive the stock higher.

Now it is possible that sales are just absolutely killer and outpaces estimates. But in my experience is that after FDA approval the drug sales are never as rosy as the projections. Typical sell the news event.

IF you want to invest in a biotech like Eli Lilly you need to be looking forward in their drug pipeline to see what the next blockbuster drug will be in a few years.

Just IMO

I am a newb, but I have learned that if you are reading about the chance for increased revenue you shoulda bought months prior. I have lost a good bit by buying too late for short term run ups. I now only buy companies that I am willing to hold for years and years. And to do that there has to be some kind of dip that I believe is temporary.

Bought 3 shares like 6 months ago. Never thought it would fly like this though. Looking like the 330 per share was a bargain.

LLY has been a runaway success the past couple of years but there is a lot of good news and expectations based into this thing. I think pharmaceuticals and health care are pretty damn attractive, but LLY is not as attractive as peers IMO.

JNJ would be the first place to research.

I agree the projected sales from the FDA approval on LLY is built in already. I bought both NOVO, the makers of the competitor drugs Ozempic & Wegovy at the same time I bought LLY earlier this year. My LLY has gained 38% and NOVO 30%. LLY does have an Alzheimers drug and another weight loss drug currently in trials. I don't think you can go wrong investing long term in LLY but, you may have missed the current spike from the announcement. IMO
