My point was that if the market here in the US closed up this afternoon then that would be much less likely to fuel more selling in the overseas markets tonight. If the market were to close around the same point, it's a crap shoot. If the market were to close down, it could well cause more selling in the overseas markets.

Waking up to an even more down market tomorrow would scare even more folks than we have seen already, thus driving the market down again. Waking up to a rally that continued into the overseas markets would be a nice plus and spur more buying (generally speaking).

Right now the Dow is -100+ off it's opening and -400+ off today's high (dropping so fast I can't keep up with it and ever get this posted). If it keeps dropping like this do you think it's likely to cause any other reaction overseas after we close for the trading day?

Sorry if mine came off like a prediction, just referring to how markets like to follow each other across time zones. After today's volatility (up 200 from open, then down 300 from open and now up almost 150 from open), the only prediction I would feel safe in making is "the market is going to move".
