They say it’s going to be retroactive back to when bill was signed. I guess we’ll see

S Corp here.
My first UI check posted last midnight.
I didn't get the plus $600 though.
I'll probably use the money to pay 2/3 rd of the electric bill at the office. I hope entergy doesn't mind if I short them a bit.

Yes, but next week, JBE told me I get $600 extra

What do I need to file? 1099? What else? New to this whole unemployed thing.

Had my original CPA try to convince me not to do that. Glad I didn't listen and got a new CPA.

Anybody else thought the $600 a week is retroactive to March through July 31? I did but just discovered LA Works said it only goes back to the week ending April 4 and ends July 25!

It's for four months. That seems about right. Those dates would be for 17 weeks.

Idk. But I went to site again and it’s supposed to be open and it is still shut down. Wow.

I was able to log on this morning. My benefit went from “moniterily ineligible” to 107.00 a week benefit. I was hoping to god that wasn’t WITH the federal part.

Does anyone know if filing for temporary unemployment will effect my current employer if I am a contractor? Due to Covid 19 I will not have much work for the foreseeable time but I have also not been laid off and will be the first one at the next job that comes back up. Unfortunately we are unsure when that will be currently.
I would like to try to file as Self Employed are now eligible but I am wondering if this will somehow raise my companies taxes (about 20-40 employees) or anything of that nature or if it will not rite now with Covid Relief?

You aid contractor and employer in the same sentence. That does not work. Either he's an employer and you can get unemployment and be furloughed or you're 1099 self-employed and you can apply for a PPP loan.
If you are an employee and he hasn't laid you off but isn't paying you he's being a dick. I tend to believe it's the latter and you aren't an employee.

Wtf? You supposed to get half the normal UI which is 247. So that’s 123.50 Plus the 600 putting you at roughly 723.50.
What all did they ask for from 1099s? Date last worked? I’m not sure how they can verify anything. Unless they asked for last years 1099s Or invoices?

1099 contractor. From what I have herd, Unemployment insurance has recently become available for the self employed
On the the application they were asking about date last worked and there was a section where you could still select employed but also that you are applying for reduced hours due to Covid. I would guess that this would be my situation?
