Crowdsourced Real Estate Investing

Someone educate me on this, in my mind after reading up on it, it sounds like prosper or other peer to peer lending sites but you actually have collateral on the notes. Am I thinking of it wrong? Anyone on here have any experience on one of these sites they would be willing to share?

I haven't personally used crowdsourced funding but I have gotten very creative with financing when I first started flipping homes. Not to derail your thread but why are you looking at these outlets vs. traditional lending? I would imagine the sharks behind the p2p lending are looking for a huge ROI.
