How can you tell what credit score a bank or finance company (house refi) is besides credit karma?
Say credit karma shows a 780 score.
Will that be the same score the refi company shows? Or will refi company pull one that shows lower?

TIA

There will be much better advice from others on here, but I'd start with getting your free credit report FIRST. Make completely sure that everything is dead nuts correct on there.

I started my credit repair journey about 18 months ago. Found out my credit actually wasn't that bad. But, discovered that I was tied up in my parent's credit cards from literally 25 years ago, so it was affecting my utilization %. Nothing mischievous. My Mom had added me to a few cards when I was in college, so that I could buy clothes, etc. We had totally forgotten about it since the 1990's. Lol.

Anyone, got myself removed from those cards which actually dropped my score significantly. I've spent the last 18 months re-boosting my credit and I'm back to looking pretty good.

Point being.....it starts with the credit report and it's accuracy. In my case it WAS accurate, but not what I anticipated. So, I fixed it.

Anyway, I now have a Discover card that actually shows my FICO score as a nice perk on their app. That number seems to be the hot ticket for institutions from what I've read.

With that said, my FICO only currently sits 8 points BELOW my Transunion score, so it's close. But it's a staggering 66 points above my Equifax one. Simply because Equifax doesn't have near the reporting history on it that it should.

Point being, Credit Karma is nice and I look at mine every single day out of habit, but your credit score needs to be tackled with the report first.

Hopefully more knowledgeable folks chime in.

P.S. I've boosted my score 78 points in this past year, so while it's a grind, I urge everyone to try because it can be done.

Credit karma means nothing.

Experian, Transunion, Equifax.

Thanks.
How do I get the experian, transunion, and eqifax without getting a hard inquiry?
I’d like to refi using my wife’s and mine together (both incomes )but had 2 hard inquiries in January to find out hers was not up to par. Paid off her old debt she had in her name.
Id like to get a good estimate before trying again

You can get a free once a year credit report from each of the major reporters. The government mandates it I believe. You just have to jump through some hoops.

Most banking apps have it. I know for sure if you have a credit card with chase, Amex, or citi.

They use VantagePoint 3.0 or Vantage Score 3.0 or something. I’ve had to make a few calls lately because my score dropped 7 points for no reason. I have a 790 score so it’s not a big deal, but I want an explanation. They are a pain in the arse about it

Credit Karma pulls transunion and equifax. I recently bought a car and the score they gave me at the dealership was like 10-15 points higher than what credit karma had (transunion and equifax)

I have a question. I missed a payment on an Amazon Visa card because I was confused because apparently it had sex with Chase and JPM (listed on the back). I ripped up the chase mail because I thought it was solicitation. That was like almost 3 years ago. My only missed payment on anything. How long until that doesn’t Matter? I sent in a dispute to get rid of it. I’m going to keep harassing them

I can’t think of a better way to waste time out of my life than to call around trying to figure out why my score dropped 7 points. Stressing yourself out about something that is meaningless

This is true, but unless something has changed since the last time I pulled mine, these free reports provided by the bureaus don't have a credit score on them. They're still handy for checking accuracy though.

To the OP: Lenders typically use the middle of your three scores. I have no idea which score Credit Karma uses...perhaps it is an average of the 3 bureaus.

The utilization was high, not to mention the interest rates. Wanted nothing to do with those. Glad everything is free and clear. All on me now.

Credit Karma uses Vantage Score . Much like noted before when refinancing they pull all 3 scores and use the middle one. By law all three bureaus have to provide report once every 12 months at no charge. Just the report not the score. Credit Karma is good to give you an idea but I’ve read it’s about 20% higher in some cases then real score.

Credit Karma inflates your score 40-80pts from a tri merge

Call the 3 mains and have them pull for u and get the report

Any lates blemishes will take 7-10yrs to fall off naturally or you have to ask the beaurus to remove them via letters. Not the easiest

this is correct, however, reports are now given free weekly because of covid. i think this lasts until early part of 2022.

I haven't found this to be the case. My actual credit score was about 10% higher than Credit Karma was reporting when I bought my last home. Like a lot of things in life I think this can vary person to person.

Depends on what you are applying for

If you want a Mortgage pull it will be inflated by that amount
