I was bored.
I'm sure there is something to be added in there.
I'll mention that at this point for all those cards I've paid $65(SPG) +$89(Barclay's) in fees. Chase hasn't gotten one fee yet starting from May 2013.

Monsoon starts in July. However, I think like India(New Delhi hits 110F), it gets super hot right before the bucket falls out.

Hah. Nice. You try to get a retention on either of those cards? Got a 3k point offer for wife's SPG. Cancelled it as we don't need to keep two.
The only chase product I keep and pay fee is ink card since we pay all of our joint expenses on it on auto pay and what not.
You see my edit about Cathay Pacific last page?

They haven't offered yet. Oh well. Ya my Ink Bold fees up this summer so that will be my first one.
Cathay Pacific! Yes that's what I was missing from the American/US Air branch.

Hey guys, I didn't want to read through 99pages of things, but here is my situation. I will be buying an engagement ring within the next few months. I have the cash to pay for it upFront. The plan though is to do a destination wedding in Hawaii with just immediate family. The Hotel is covered by my father ( military resort in Waikiki Honolulu), but I wanted help finding a card to put the engagement ring on and earn points/miles to help cover the flights to Hawaii.
TIA
TIA

You'll likely get a better deal paying cash than paying with a CC on something like that
Posted on 2/7/15 at 7:08 pm to BACONisMEATcandy
Yep. What bacon said. Many jewellers have a cash price. Finfd out what the cash price is first and if it's only 2-3% less, consider a card to meet that spend.
Again, the USAir/AA cards might be your best bet to get roundtrip in business class paid for all in one.
We can explain further if that's something you're interested in.

American is usually the cheapest miles to get to Hawaii that I have used over and over back and forth.
Actually, me and my wife are jumping on a flight tonight to NOLA from Oahu and it was 70k miles total. We booked them a while back but decided to just leave tonight and there is no cost to move the dates at all.
Get the US Air, AA Master, and SPG Amex. Hit their spends and bonuses and you could easily have 265,000 AA miles. (50x2 US Air, 50x2 AA, 25x2 SPG + 5,000 referral for one of you + a 5,000 mile bump when you convert 20,000 SPG points to AA!)
ETA: And all you pay for that is $89 as SPG and AA are free for the first year, US Air is $89. You'll have to spend money but who doesn't anyway

Thinking about changing hotel loyalty this year. Where do yall normally stay?
Marriott has been my go to for a long time.

I only do hotels on short trips. Longer trips I do VRBO.
I generally do Marriott. Can usually find one and the Ritz card gives me gold status.

Depends on where you do the majority of your travel. Hyatt and starwood get >90% of my stays domestically and I feel I get the best value out of their points. I'm not a needy traveler. I value room size, cleanliness, and bed more than anything. I don't usually even use club lounges except day of departure.
Just depends on what you're looking to get out of it and availability in your travel area.

Need some advice. My current situation married and playing the game with both my wife and myself (just started my wife this year).
Spend about $2500 a month true expense
Current Cards
- Chase (all me): Freedom, Sapphire Preferred, Southwest Premier, Ink Plus (canceled this year).
- Barclays Arrival (wife)
- Amex Premier rewards gold (wife)
Current point balances:
Chase - 50,000
Southwest - 55,000
Amex - 50,000
My plans and thoughts.
Thinking of applying for US Airways and Southwest Plus card for myself (would give me AA miles shortly + companion pass for AA X1 use; southwest would almost give me companion pass for a year).
My problem is that this gives me a lot of leverage for flights, but I have limited hotel stays with my current point balances. Any suggestions?
Also, by applying for another chase card (Sapphire is 3 years old, freedom 5 years old, ink plus cancelled one month ago, Southwest premier is new), would it put me at risk to be cancelled, or am I safe to apply for the southwest card?
Future plans (not immediate): Sapphire preferred for the wife; Barclays arrival for me, ?????
Recent Travel within last year(some good rewards, some not)
MSY - FCO: 2 flights business there coach back 130,000 on Lufthansa (amazing point value as flights cash were $12,000
To PUN: 2 Flights SWA 70,000 points
To Vegas: 2 Flights 40,000
Used Barclays reward to pay for Vegas stay.
Look forward to the insight, and I enjoy reading this thread.

Has anyone had success with getting the Southwest Premier Card while already having the Southwest Plus Card and still getting the 50K bonus?
I have read a mixed bag on it, some of whom say they don't get the bonus and some say they do get the bonus but only if the previous card was opened more than two years ago.
Also, any other airline CCs worth it right now with current promotions? Looking to fly to Cancun in July and don't want to pay

I am very interested in the Plus and Premier answer.
In terms of good airline options. Amex premier gold seems to be a good deal at 50,000 points after 1k spend. I can send you a link if you need it (targeted offer so have to have link and open in incognito tab).

The USAir card.
It's going to be converted to an AA card. 50000 miles for one purchase and the $89 annual fee.

Right now the wife and I each have sapphires, she also has a Marriott, and a freedom. We used the Chase and marriot points on a trip last year. We are planning on both getting the usair and aa cards this year and just paid the fee on our old cards. My question is, how long should we hold on to the marriot before canceling? I assume at least to the end of this year since we already paid.

Unless you just don't travel a ton or stay at Marriott hotels, I'd keep it.
Annual fee is $85 I think but you get an annual e-certificate, which is worth it IMO
I just used mine a few months ago in Dallas and got a room that normally runs for $200+

Teddy, would you elaborate on your statement that you can only get one Ink Bold/Plus? I was planning on applying for the Plus in a couple of months and then cancelling my Bold. Is that no longer an option?
Posted on 2/8/15 at 12:09 pm to Joshjrn
You're good. They don't offer Ink Bold any more. That's what I meant. Since you have bold, you can get the Ink Plus they still offer
