3- I get the AF waived
Unless you guys have another recommendation I’m rolling with this one.
If you get the AF waived, I would jump on the CSR asap and the amex platinum once they offer you the 100k signup bonus. Both are absolute no brainers with the AF waived.

Didn't feel like messing with their travel partners
I'm planning a trip to Bali, so first class in Singapore, Cathay, Etihad are all options with Citi as travel partners... especially Singapore, since they partner with Chase and Amex as well.
I'll probably drop it after transferring the points

Ya I didn't have an Asia trip on tap which is where I would have used them.
Ended up a few years later burning 280k American on Cathay for this October.
I earn UR like crazy so the Singapore option is always there. Saving that for hopefully Japan in 2020. I hope between Singapore, Korean, ANA and Asiana I can find something

OD/OM is doing the $10 of $300 MasterCard deal this week. I need to learn more about serve to unload those things. Last time I ended up just using them for regular spend since it was so difficult to get MOs at WallyWorld

Amex Serve? shite, they shut everyone down like two years ago. I had a lot of points through them.
Them and the Reload packs from CVS were so easy, but I was poorer then and didn't have as much float.
I could float a lot more these days but the MO thing just seems like a greater hassle than I'm willing to do or I'm just lazy now.
I've pretty much just do all regular spend now but making sure I max out. Like how I bought $600 in GC from Best Buy with Google Play last night to fill up my Freedom quarter.

Well, good news. Didn't get it as early in the year as I wanted, but my wife's Southwest Premier just approved, 60 days after being approved for Plus.
A few days ago I went through her cards and lowered a bunch of limits to free up space.
Companion Pass time
Now I can go for CSP and put her as an AU for that little 5k boost or whatever. PARTY TIME!

IHG/Chase supposedly scaling back the free night certificate in May to be capped at properties worth 40,000 points/night. Existing cardmembers not being grandfathered in.
This is my first experience with having a Chase card, and it's not an enjoyable one to say the least.

Well that sucks.
I'll have to reevaluate when I come back due for them in December

I’m thinking frick the card now. I have a night in Paris I booked with 70k points until I get my free night. My wife and I used multiple free nights for this Paris stay and need one more and now it seems like I won’t be able to trade out the points for my free anniversary night as my next free night comes in around mid May. I’m really hoping they’ll make an exception but I have a feeling they won’t. frick Chase/IHG for this.

That Frequent Miler article on 5/24 is great, thanks. It looks like I'm actually at 4/24, I was under the impression that my Ink Preferred counted towards 5/24 since it was a Chase card. Based on that link and checking my Credit Karma, looks like it does not add to my count. So it looks like I've got some room. I'd just added AMEX BB+ this week for the 2%, but might as well take advantage of the empty Chase slot.
I was thinking about adding Chase Ink Cash for the 50K UR since it shouldn't add to my count, and then the Freedom to maximize the 5% quarters as my 5th. It'll max out my 5/24 but I'll have my 2 old SW cards falling off at the end of this year to re-apply for the Companion Pass (will get a SW Plus then Business). Any other recommendations? How long should I wait between applying for the Ink Cash & Freedom? Currently have SW Premium, CSR, CI Preferred, AMEX Plat, AMEX BB+.

My free night this year is still good for anywhere but I will ditch this card after that. 40k IHG points sucks and usually only gets you a holiday inn in the burbs of a large city.

I just got the card but havent activated it yet. May not even bother doing that. If the account is still open after a year I'll be cancelling the card and recouping my AF right after the restricted free night certificate posts to my IHG account.
I've been perfectly happy with AMEX and not really tempted by Chase before this, but holding off on AMEX/citi AA/other things while I tried to plan out my remaining 5/24 spots. Probably just going to say frick chase moving forward.

LINK
Screenshot of a chase rep on Twitter saying recently opened accounts will still get an unrestricted night for the first year. Then apparently the same twitter account walks that comment back later. This is a shitshow

This sucks. Feb was my first year getting the IHG anniversary night based on this boards rec. I guess I will use that and probably cancel. What’s the next best card to keep for things like that

So I did a product change from the CSR to the Freedom Unlimited. My annual fee was posted 2 days ago. It should go away correct? I remember reading you had until the next billing date closes?

This card was offering 1 free night at ANY IHG property. Like a holiday inn express in Huntsville, AL or an overwater bungalow in Bora bora. There were/are no other cards that offer that to my knowledge.
It now offers a restricted night up to a certain property category. It's still a free hotel room night, and pretty much all hotel brands have at least 1 card that's offers some kind of restricted free night. Its unlikely we'll ever see a card with an unrestricted free night again.

at least the business card is still an option(for now). have a feeling most people did that anyway since its usually a higher signup bonus.
i wonder if the double dip application trick for the saphire cards will work for these too?

You would think so having the same back end system.
Ya, I'm going to beef up my business profile so I can run at this in 2020 if it's still a thing.

frick Chase. No wonder they're the official United card, a POS airline and a POS company. But I do like UR
Did SM with Chase as my next free night comes May 24th and no exception so I miss the free night at Paris Legrand by 3 weeks. I'm going to call and cancel the card and hope they work with me.
