PH Vendome (Paris), PH Sydney, PH Beaver Creek over ski season, GH Kauai. Some will throw in PH Milan but I just don't see it. Technically Andaz Maui is one too, but the Andaz brand, especially this property game the Gold Passport system to where you will never find standard room availability. Andaz Tokyo. Im sure there are others I'm missing but these seem to be known as the "top" redemptions.

illy question but do you just pay for hotels out of pocket or do you use the SW or Chase points for those?
Depends.
Cancun- Out of pocket
New York - AirBnB
Denver - Points tier 1 Hyatt Place hotel
Phx - Family
Thinking of doing
Utah - Hyatt Centric points during ski season = great value
Washington DC - Either friend/Family/Points
San Francisco - Points

Is it even possible to find a PH New York room for redemption?
The Tier 7 hotels on Hyatt's website are the following
Park Hyatt New York
Park Hyatt Vendome (Paris)
Park Hyatt Sydney
Park Hyatt Beaver Creek (Olympic site)
Park Hyatt Milan
Park Hyatt St Kitts & Nevis
Park Hyatt Tokyo
Park Hyatt Zurich
Park Hyatt Milan
Park Hyatt Maldives is a tier 6 which typically is considered a more "expensive" tier 6 too on top of the others mentioned by Amerikop

This hotel is going up a cat to Cat 5 next month. Book now. A shame since you can't use the annual free nights here at this great ski in/out property anymore. Previously used to be the Hyatt Escala Lodge

but think about this - when staying at a PH you are paying for food/alcohol etc
Depends if you are doing peak or non peak season. I just don't see the value in using free nights for a room that I found for ~$300 + fees
I have the cancun + NY trip, I could do Park Hyatt NY + Zilara for $300/night + redemption or Zilara + avg hotel in NY for $300

Wow. Really glad you said something. Even so, still solid enough value at Cat 5 if you really want a winter trip somewhere

Just looked at the list, 3 hotels I've been looking at booking are being upgraded. That is some lucky timing on my part

So Hyatt free nights that comes with the credit card is not limit to any category?
Posted on 7/6/16 at 10:24 am to GenesChin
I'm excited about the Hyatt Centric South Beach downgraded one to become a Cat 4 now. Good use of annual free nights. Between me + SO + SW CP, makes for a cool beach trip.

Nope. That's Marriot/ most others that do that. Hyatt lets you be a 2 night baller

That was an insane downgrade of 2 tiers from 6 to 4. Just getting old/needs makeover or what?
They just built all these new Hyatt Place hotels and all of them are getting upgraded to tier 2. That's annoying, they seemed like super legit value for a new hotel at 4k points

How bad of a value is booking points + cash?
Posted on 7/6/16 at 11:27 am to GenesChin
Depends on the cash component. Cash+Points bookings can yield really good value a lot of times (if not most). Just be smart and calculate the cpp.

Oh really? I thought I read somewhere it was only cat 1-4. thx
- I see now that the initial 2 free nights are anywhere but the annual free nights are only 1-4.

Much thanks for the recs on getting the Ink - just got approved today without even needing to call! Now just have to hit that bonus by October.
Wife also just got approved for Freedom Unlimited. Hopefully well on our way to a nice trip. Glad I found this board.

Yup. Really sucks that Park City is going from 4 to 5

Hyatt counts those as stays/nights for elite qualifying purposes and you also earn points on the cash portion. I've noticed that c+p rates do not fluctuate with the room rate on offer, so they can make for a great value when the hotel is in high demand. Conversely, during off-season, they generally don't make any sense. Like Kop said, just do the math on the offer.

Using Hyatt's tier chart
Points per $1 in C + P redemption
Tier 1- 50
Tier 2- 72.72
Tier 3- 80
Tier 4- 75
Tier 5- 80
Tier 6- 86.66
Tier 7- 50

Very nice. Did you get instant approval or approval after app went to pending? Just curious.

Approval after app went to pending. Received a "decision in mail in 30 days" email/screen after completing the app a few days ago then got the confirmation email today.
