If you stay at a hotel 4 nights in a row even 2 times a year, this card is a no-brainer. If you do it often and work reimburses you...
I'm assuming this doesn't work if you have to book through your company's portal? Either way I think the admirals club for effectively $200 (as I will always have at least $250 in flights) is worth it.
Thanks for all the help!

With this being so far out I have time to earn more points and I am not opposed to paying cash the difference if that is possible.
Simplest and cheapest would be 104K RT on Turkish Business using ANA miles. (Amex) Very good availability but ~$490 in Fuel Surcharges

No. You have to call them to book. Also - it is not Admirals Club Membership just access. So you can only access those lounges when flying AA

If you are an IHG member, Hilton or whatever and you book through the concierge for the free nite I assume you can't earn any loyalty points with the hotel program for the whole stay?

Ok thanks for clearing that up.

That's the best thing about this. All stays earn points and stay credits like regular bookings including the free night.

Sweet thanks for the info. That was the only drawback I was seeing for this card.

There is 0 drawbacks on this card. That may be its only drawback. Too good to last for too long
Posted on 5/3/16 at 8:11 pm to AmeriKop45
Yep. Can't last with its benefits. Won't be profitable.
On a side note, anybody used the golf benefits?

Anybody had luck getting a barclay aa fee waived? Mine just posted.
I got mine and my wife's waived about 2 months ago. Just said I wanted to cancel and they tripped over themselves to waive the fee. We didn't spend anything in those cards other than one small purchase and the annual fee to get the bonus points last year.

The Red Aviator card? My wife and I both got it waived and 5,000 miles each for spending $1,000 within 90 days. I got it first call, she had to HUCA.

Nice, thanks guys. I'll give them a call today.
Eta: do you ask for a waiver or just threaten cancellation?

This MR->EY offer has me itching. But the scores of nightmare stories booking with EY is so off putting. Who wants to be a test dummy?
EY miles also expire 2 years from issue date. Regardless of whether or not there is activity in the account.

Booking with AA miles is a nightmare for trips originating in the US. I don't have any experience using EY miles directly.

Alright, you guys are killing me with these different cards and rewards. I'm looking for a card to give the most bang, like everyone. Just looking for a good everyday card to build points on.
I don't travel much, I fly roughly once a year, using Air BnB the past few times with success. I have two cash back cards, discover and amex blue. I like both, I have great credit.
I think Amex Plat is out of my league, I'd hardly take advantage of the perks. Gold premier seems nice for everyday purchases and $100 credit for incidentals, but doubt I'd use the whole credit every year. Looking at Citi Premier looks good and comparable to an everyday card, like the Amex gold premier but less expensive. I really like the citi prestige, expensive, but, the $250 credit is nearly a free trip on an airline which I'd use every year, the golf option I would use. I'd use the Concierge service. It seems after everything I'd only be paying ~75 a year using the benefits, not including the tsa precheck. Not sure I'd use the free hotel night after 4 days though. I don't travel for work. Does Citi have any retention offers?

Wanna shoot me a link for that card/ what kind of bonus does it offer? And I assume that I have to pay for the fuel surcharge in addition to using the miles for the ticket?

I don't think CSP is a match here. I think you are better off with your Blue Cash. Maybe go for the Blue Cash Preferred and EveryDay preferred. You're covered for Gas, Groceries and Dining.
Citi Prestige is at least $500 in Airline credits ($250 each calender year), $100 Global Entry (which includes TSA pre) and golf benefits for the first year. Plus 50k welcome bonus. All for $450. So its a no brainer even if you don't travel much. After that, if you think 3 rounds of golf can give you $200 worth of benefit, its a keeper. Otherwise just cancel. They do have some nice and expensive courses on their list.
I got 15K points for paying the fee for the 2nd year (called in).

You need MRs for that. So right off the bat go for the MB Plat like TODAY: LINK
75K out of the 104K you need right there. And yes. You will need to pay the fuel on top of the miles. You can cover part of it with something like the Barclay Arrival+ though. Or the Citi Prestige.
My strategy would be: AmEx MB plat 75K ($475 AF), AmEx Everyday 25K ($0 AF). Barclay Arrival+ if you want. Remember for AmEx MB Plat you can get upto $400 in Airline Vouchers (SW, AS, UA seem to work best), $100 GE credit. So you've made all of your money back there and more. And then you have the points, lounge access, spg gold, hilton gold etc.

Let me make sure I am understanding this correctly.
The linked card is focused to Mercedes, not sure if that is an issue or not. But it appears that I would be paying the $490 in fuel charges plus the $475 AF on the card to get the $2500 flight for basically free. I would also get $400 in airline vouchers that I could use to offset the fuel charges and $100 GE credit that I don't see on the link that I assume I can use to buy a GE appliance from home depot? In order to get these points though I would need to spend $4,000 between the two AmEx cards in 3 months which would be a little bit of a struggle.
I am going to Antigua this New Years, but I was planning on using my UR points on that one. I can round trip it for 25,000 points.

What is the best way to ensure I am eligible for a card sign-up bonus again? I know I cancelled a Southwest Visa from Chase in late 2013, but I want to make sure it's clear before applying.

Thanks for the reply. Where are the $500 credits? I've read about the $250, Global & TSA entry. Are we including the AA lounges in this?
Again, you guys are nuts! (in a good way)
