I just did the TSA Pre Check - Very easy. I was in and out in under 7 minutes and only had to walk 2 blocks from my Apartment

So I just got the 100k amex platinum offer. Is this a pretty normal offer or should I jump on it? I find it hard to justify a $500 annual fee
I say jump on it. I was able to get that offer from the Card Match Tool on creditcards.com
Also had the 50k Preferred Rewards Gold offer on there too

We used Global Entry entering the country in Miami in March. It saved nearly an hour of lines as my daughter and her friend had to go the regular route.

Signing up for this soon. Have a pretty tight connection coming from Shanghai in Newark and don't have time to piddlefart around in that airport.
Pretty excited about it.
Good thing you waited for your daughter (I assume you waited). Miami is crazy, can't leave any one behind in that town.

We waited. She was texting us to price tickets in case she missed the flight. She can be a bit entitled at times (well more than a bit). She was at the gate an hour before the connection so the drama was unnecessary.

Would you mind sharing the content of the email? I need to do the same.
I told them (speaking for my wife) she tried to get the 80,000 point offer but every time she went through the process, it was showing 60,000 points. So she grabbed the 70,000 but would like them to honor the 80,000 since it seemed it was a technical issue. They said ok and that after she spends the $1000 they will add 10,000 more points. She has to email them to confirm. No on the $50 credit though (but I didn't even really ask for that).

You can get Global Entry for free and $200 in travel expenses reimbursed on that card. Plus Starwood Gold. It's certainly worth it for a year considering those benefits plus the 100k points.
Yeah, I'd jump on that offer in a heartbeat. I never get the 100k offer though. I'm about to do GE soon anyway and recouping the $200 would be easy, so there's $300. 100k AMEX pernts has to be worth at least $1,000, right? Plus Starwood Gold is

If you convert the 100k points to Avios during the bonus period they're worth way more than $1000.

Can I use amex points to upgrade a us airways flight?

Yeah, I think I saw an article saying they're worth 2 cents ($2,000) if you do that.

Well I think you can convert them to AA miles so yes, you would be able to upgrade, I think?

No, you can not. You can only use AA points to upgrade a USair flight since there are no USAir points anymore. Amex does not transfer to AA. Amex points do transfer to Avios which is a Oneworld partner that would allow you to book a AA/USair flight, but it would be through British Airways. It would not allow you to upgrade a paid or award flight booked through USair though.

To add to the above. Avios are more valuable that AA miles for American Airlines domestic flights. Way more valuable. A round trip flight from Dulles to Miami costs me 15000 Avios. The same flight costs 25000 AA miles. Avios are a much better bang for the buck domestically.

I got it last year with the AMEX SPG card and they discontinued it from the personal card. I only stayed in a handful of properties, got upgraded to a club room 2 or 3 times I believe. Nice perk if you stay in SPG properties regularly.

The crossover rewards with SPG/Delta are really nice. I shifted all my stays to SPG last year and I guess Marriott saw my stays go to 0 and gifted me platinum after a couple stays so now I am back on the Marriott train

Your life will never be the same. That combined with a first class flight actually makes flying enjoyable. Something I haven't been able to say in a long time.
