Buying company is already public. No IPO unless I don't fully understand how IPO's work.

I deal with the goddamn customer so the engineers don't have to. . . Classic.

I'm not spinning in my chair all day long playing with my stapler. I'm more of a straight shooter with upper management written all over me.

For real though, if we got efficiency experts (or whatever you want to call them) that came in, they'd likely want to add more resources to my department.

In the end, if they lay me off, so be it. I like the company but my job has been a bit of a pressure cooker for the last 2 years and only getting more-so. There would be somewhat of a silver lining, but I wouldn't say I prefer layoffs over keeping the job. My boss is really appreciative and understanding and gives me flexibility when needed. I'll keep the devil I know for now.

Get ready for a complete corporate culture change. The buying company will force it's corporate culture on you right away.

Over time, they'll look at the benefits given by your old company. If the particular benefit is better than theirs, it will be taken away and replaced with theirs. If a particular benefit is worse than theirs, you'll be stuck with it.
