So CME raises margin requirements and we are surprised to see a sell-off?

Please link to the post where anyone says they were surprised by the sell off because of the change in margin requirements. I don't see where anyone wrote that. Thanks.

I don't think anyone was surprised by the sell-off. I think they were surprised by the speed and violence. Looks like the margin calls are over. Oil up, silver up, stocks up. The brokers had already announced margin raises today and monday, so the selling appears to be finished.

IRX today at 9:30 eastern. Money coming out of T Bills.

I would have to think about not thinking though... The universe would collapse after that paradox.

KFIZ, you miss the point. It does not matter whether it is statistically right or not. The truth is that traders use the correlations to trade. Media is using them to make a point. It is out there whether right or wrong. Money moves so fast these days around the world and it is controlled by algos.

I knew a guy in, I think 2008, that was trading (If I remember correctly) the SPY/EURO/USD. As in all things concerning the market, they work until they don't.

I can't respond to anything you say any more because you're not a dickhead like Rivers and you make me feel bad.

FIZZ, this could have an effect on afternoon markets.

From German Newspaper, Greece threatening to leave EURO and Create own currency. Could be leaked BS, but certainly something to watch and will move metals.Noticed that dow started dropping around the time this hit.

From Der Speigel via Zerohedge.

Greece crap

Bimbo, the problem with your whole thesis is that while it may be of interest to people who spend all their time gambling (excuse me, I meant "following the trend of the day") not too many people on this board do that.

Most of these pitches do not stand up to any real analysis, not that people who pay attention to that will care because they just want to play the game and are looking for an excuse to do so. You might as well flip a coin.

About the only redeeming feature about stuff like this is that even a naive day trading strategy should profit by the daily money market rate minus transaction costs, which is probably better than most casino games. But really it's all about the action, and that isn't generally what we are about here. Best of luck to you.

NP. Not trying to be a dick, but it just isn't a trading forum that's all. We tend to get more excited over annual reports.
