Many
LSU and LaTech got LA hard for the students at home - then both aggressively go after Texas HS students.
Very aggressively. Hell, before covid, both schools had a full time recruiting presence in the state.
LSU hits Houston Hard
LaTech goes after Dallas area hard

A 30 ACT score puts you in 94th percentile nationally and Louisiana is at or near dead last in education rankings.
So, I disagree there are "many" in that criteria.

My 2 cents….
Don’t over-fund the 529. $350 per month starting at 6 mos old will exceed $125k, no?
Your $125k feels generally right but may be light at higher education inflation. That said in 18 years I predict formal education will be very different than today.
Like your thinking on the similarity of most universities (excluding ivy and Duke, Northwestern, Berkeley, Michigan, etc). The person at 18 trumps the college degree at 21 most of the time, unless Wall St, Private Equity, etc that sell pedigree as value proposition….

quote:I think Tech calls that the Champions scholarship, either way my kid got it as well, with a 28 on the ACT I think. I paid about 7k a year for the 3.5 years they were there. Lived on campus freshman year and off the remainder.
2nd got top tier tops and $5k/yr scholarship at La Tech 29act and 3.9 gpa.
