Hah, yeah, "fun" is not what I would describe any of this as. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I had to retake the excel once and I have to retake the Access MCAS test tomorrow. I f-ing hate those tests. The material is not that bad. No partial credit.

How long you study for and which level?
Posted on 6/23/09 at 3:50 pm to kfizzle85
It's really hard to "study" for these test especially the way the class is formatted. No books, etc. It's part of a required class that we get college credit for. I am not sure at what level. I know I am a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist in excel 2007 at the moment. Hopefully Access 2007 tomorrow.

So you're doing it in connection with a class at school?
Posted on 6/23/09 at 4:20 pm to kfizzle85
Yep. Actually that is all the class is. I believe Tulane may be one of very few if no the only one who offers this as a required course that you get credit for.
Your grade is based on what you score on the test. But, since you have to pay extra for the course, you are allowed to retake the test. About 90% of the class failed the excel test the first time. She said that was pretty normal.

what course is that? undergrad or grad?

Undergrad
Info Sys 101
I'm not sure it's always been this way. I could be wrong though.

Did all of yall Finance majors taking Intermediate Accounting (I and II)?
I've noticed that a lot of the stuff on the CFA was absolutely not covered in principles classes and most finance majors don't take upper level accountings?
The accounting was really the only stuff I could do on the practice tests; I knew very few of the finance questions as the only finance topic that I really know in any depth is options and options trading.

I know that Finance majors at LSU have to take I and II, but I don't think that would assist you much in the CFA, to be honest. TheHiddenFlask will probably have a much better answer for you in that regard.

Are you serious? The CFA has a bunch of upper level (intermediate accounting) accounting stuff. Diluted EPS, questions about bond pricing, etc.

Obviously for the accounting section it helps, but that's just one part. I just meant that there is a lot of other non-accounting stuff on there. I assumed they made Finance majors take II at every school, but then I found out Loyola doesn't even make their acct majors take II.

What is "II"? Intermediate II or Principles II?
Posted on 6/24/09 at 5:24 pm to southernstunna
I am a Finance major and I am taking Corp. Accounting (Intermediate I) as part of my major.
I have already taken Financial and Managerial Accounting.

Intermediate II. I only took one principles class (it was the intro acct class, the first one I ever took), but I guess different schools break stuff up into different categories to some degree.

I'm a business and economics double major at Rhodes and I'll be taking Intermediate Accounting I this next semester.
Not sure whether I will take I.A. II or not. Is it worth taking?
I got around the checking our course catalogue to see what classes covered derivatives, etc so that I can at least learnt he basics for all of that.
