I have a Cap 1 Savor which I love, but I'm looking to use one for flights/car rental/hotels.

Suggestions and stories?

Plat sucks as an every day spender.

OP, if you're willing to do the work/research on how to redeem the points for the best value, then continue on. However, it gets harder every year to get that value.

Otherwise, apply for the cash back cards that have highest return across spend categories while being bank agnostic.

I love my Savor card, unfortunately it doesn't earn status pts toward travel and I'm about to add 12-15 trips / yr to my agenda.

depends on your situation-

what airlines are at the nearest airport?
are you married have a S/O?
where do you want to travel?

Southwest offers the companion pass thru Chase, United is great if you want to go to Europe

TD thread

Here’s another thread where I link some other threads. It really just depends on what you want, how often you travel and how loyal you are to airlines, rental cars, etc.

Usual suggestions always end up being Chase Sapphire, Capital One Venture/Venture X, AMEX blue and Delta.

Amex Plat is good for 1 year if you get a good sign up bonus offer. I signed up for it last year with bonus of 125k MR points and 10x points for restaurant or small business for 6 months w/ 6k spend. In 6 months I've earned almost 170k MR points. Most sites say an MR point is worth 1-2 cents so that could be over $3k. I've read it's possible to even get up to 20 cents per point for something like first class flights to Tokyo etc.

The Amex Plat is also good if you travel alot (stay at hotels and get rental cars). The card gives you elite status at hilton, marriot, hertz, avis etc.

If you book hotels through the Amex portal you get 5x points. Also, if you book the really nice hotels in Amex's network; you get early checkin, upgraded room, late check out, resort credits etc.

I don't travel enough to justify renewing after 1 year. As someone else mentioned, it's not a good card for general daily spend.
