So my wife is eligible for a new phone on att. Was going to get her an iPhone X. If I go with cricket, can I buy an unlocked phone from eBay an move hey current number to cricket on the new phone?

Thanks for the intel ANC. Definitely going to look into doing this in a few months. Currently paying 60 with Atat and I barely get any data.

trying to compare apples to apples, what (if any) are the fees tacked onto the cricket wireless bill?

it looks like i can cut my bill in half from att if this is legit and they don't pile a bunch of stuff on the bill.

current att plan including 6bm data and insurance: $80
cricket plan including 5gb data and insurance and -$5 for autopay: $42

the phones cost the same.

Fi has been what I've been using.

So far used it in Peru and South Africa with very good results. Nice to have Waze for driving around the Cape.

I think I was able to get a Snapchat off or two at Machu Picchu. Otherwise it worked great in the Valley villages and Cusco/Lima.

Will be trying it out in Thailand/Laos/Myanmar in October.

The price is the same service, same network and what you see is what you get. The $42 is tax inclusive. There is a $35 activation fee that you pay up front with your first month's service.

The only real difference I have found is that you cant go outside the U.S., Canada or Mexico. But, you can pay $15 the month that you go and turn it off when you get back.

If you’re 55+ Verizon has a special plan for $80/ month for 2 phones with unlimited everything. My iPad is an extra $10. We just came back from going cross country and up the PCH. Coverage is great with Verizon and we use Waze and Pandora continuously when traveling.

Daughter has google and loves it. I went with her to Europe earlier this year and no problems. She used her phone for everything.

Let me know what happens when you're on a road trip or not in the city. Seriously, I'm interested. I thought about switching to TMobile from Verizon, but kept Verizon for this purpose. The coverage when you're in the city is the same, but it's traveling that you'll be fricked.

I travel a lot between BTR and Greenville, MS area. Lots of rural country there. The Cricket coverage is excellent. The only dead spot I've encountered is Ethel, LA (I take Hwys 19/33 to cut a few minutes off drive).

And someone asked earlier. The Cricket base rates only cover US. Canada and other countries require an extra fee for international coverage.

Was paying $115 for a single line with AT&T for a long time. Switched to straight talk at $35 a month and can't complain at all

I switched from Verizon to Straight Talk, since they support Verizon-only phones, but I couldn't manage to stay within the limits of the $34 2GB plan. The $44 10GB plan is still a bargain, even if it's more data than I need.
