Auto Insurance - Driving Monitor

I am shopping auto insurance since my current policy just increased a good bit. It seems most companies these days are pushing for me to install a monitor in my truck that will monitor my driving for 90 days. They claim that it can't hurt me and only can help me. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it true that it can't make my policy increase? As you can tell, I'm not confident at all in my "safe driving skills"

Ohh.... it can hurt you. Not in that policy period but on the next one.

All companies have their insurance filings online. Find the part on telematics and voila you'll see where your rate can move. FWIW, the main companies don't surcharge but the discounters like progressive do.

That's what I figured, I may or may not drive a good bit more miles per day than I like to disclose

I'm not familiar with all of them but I know with State Farm the only way it can "harm" you is if you were on a <7,500 mile/yr policy and it shows you are driving that vehicle more than 7,500 miles/yr.

Is it for Safeco?
Safeco's program can't hurt you, only help. I know Progressive's program can make your policy increase but you'd have to be taking off fast or hard braking an awful lot.
Safeco's device will ding you if you accelerate or decelerate at 7mph or more, and late night driving between 12-4am. Just adjust your driving habits to allow more space between car ahead of you to reduce chances of having to slam the brake. I had a few times I had to slam on the brakes because of cars ahead of me doing dumb shite...still finished with 17% discount
