I currently have most of our (small) nest egg parked in a few savings accounts with these guys - it is below the FDIC limit.

They seem pretty solid and I have enjoyed using their services (checking/savings/investment etc etc). Any opinions out there?

I like ING, except for the fact the interest rate on my orange savings just dropped to 1.8% last week.

I have a trading account opened there because I like the interface. ING's banking ops are in serious trouble, so I don't think I would like to have a lot of money tied up there in the event they eventually fail or are wholly taken over by the Dutch. Just something to keep in mind (find a bank that doesn't fit that description these days, ha!)

where are you reading this? They are my primary savings bank with a substantial amount of money tied up. I thought they were FDIC insured so even if they failed it would be covered.

They are FDIC insured, sorry I wasn't trying to spook you or anything. I'm just not sure how it works with them being a multinational company based in a different country, it might take longer than just a weekend to straighten things out.

be careful about FDIC insured. In the past when banks closed they opened right back under a new name. Be prepared in case the bank doesnt re-open for a while and you cant to the money right away. You will get the money but when is not guaranteed
