I have 4 kids and drive vehicles into the ground.

Carmax was super easy and i felt like they compensated us well despite issues with our vehicles. No haggle. More than i would pay for my own vehicle.

Other options may be better, but i have sold 2 vehicles to carmax and they will get a chance to offer on a 3rd whenever that time comes.

I ignored give me the Vin for this reason actually. Went to them first, they low balled but said they would match any other offer from carmax. Went to carmax and the offer doubled. I realized that give me the Vin will lowball you unless you go get it legitimately quoted from carmax and they will just leach off of carmax's due diligence. The process with carmax was swift and painless

I had this exact same experience. Very smooth process.

I just bought my company car. 2018 Subaru with 46k miles on it. They honored the quote from January when I was offered to buy it because it didn't have 5k or more miles since then. She told me if that was the case, they would have had to requote it and at the higher milage would have been at least 16% higher due to the lack of inventory.

I'll be listing it on FB Marketplace for a week and completely firm on the price. If it doesn't move, going straight to CarMax after reading this thread.

Carvana beat out all of my offers, to include Carmax. They came to my house, wrote the check and picked the vehicle up, no questions asked

Car max snapped some pictures and sent them off, never drove the car, came back with an offer well above the dealership moments later, singed over the title and walked out with the check. Don’t think I can ever not sell a car this way again

I just sold mine to CarMax two days ago. Showed up, they did an appraisal and gave me a crazy good offer. Sold it right there and then. Easy

Carvana will probably offer a lot more than Carmax. Offered me $5500 more.

Sold my car to Carmax a couple weeks ago for about $3k more than dealers offered for trade-in. Filled out the questionnaire online and got a quote. Brought the car to Carmax and they looked over the car, drove it around and then confirmed the quote I got online and said it was good for 7 days. Carvana and Vroom were both about $1200 less than what Carmax offered. Very easy and I’ll look to do this every time from now on.

Just be aware that the offer has a time limit attached to it. I think it used to be a few days or maybe a week.

After that, in my experience and what I've heard from others is that the second offer will be much less than the first.

Also get an offer from Carvana as I've heard they are very competitive.

I just got an offer from Vroom for $2000 over what I paid for the vehicle. Used car market is crazy right now.

Their offer is good for 7 days, because of a delay getting my replacement truck, I had to get a second offe at 10 days, it was exactly the same.

Yes, highly recommend. I sold an old Honda Odyssey to them. Was given a quote I thought was fair. I shite you not, as I pulled into their parking lot with it the check engine light came on. Guy came out looked it over and gave me the full quoted price. Super easy!

Will they take an older car? Lets say a 2003?

In 2018 I sold them my 2000 Concorde. I think they maybe offered $1000. Didn't care about dealing with private sale.
