The other bad thing about Uber/Lyft is how the insurance works. When you turn on your app, your personal insurance stops covering you. Uber/Lyft insurance doesn't start until you have a passenger in the car. If something happens between when you turn on the app and when you get your passenger, you're uninsured.

I quit Uber the second I heard someone find out that their personal insurance found out about him being an Uber driver and dropped them on the spot.
