I think that's part of the problem in attempting to judge QOL today vs 1990.
I would hope that ALL of "our" salaries are way higher today than then.
The true comparison is a similar family, similar job today vs a similar family, similar job of 1990.
Are those two families better off or worse in their QOL today as it pertains to what they earn and what those earnings can purchase? (and how they earn it)

I think now is a good time to buy bitcoins if you haven't already, at least for a short term play. almost every news site I've visited today has an article about bitcoins, most about how you shouldn't buy them. I think there is a lot of momentum at least in the short term.
p.s. did anyone see the guy on reddit that invested 30k a month ago and his investment is now worth +250k?
