I'm thinking about adding onto my house and need a loan to help pay for it all. What's the best strategy at getting the best rates on loans? Get quotes from a few different lenders? What types of lenders are the best to work with and offer reasonable rates?

A home equity loan from Penfed for me was 4.74% @ 15 yrs. 85% loan to value after the loan.
