Inheriting around 40k that i would like to put aside for my kids high school tuition. Kids are in 5th, 3rd and 1st grades. Already been putting into the LA529 program for college, so this would be just for high school.

Where / What would be the best place to put this money in to gain the most interest / return with lowest risk (I know these don't go hand in hand).

The Start K12, a CD, a regular old bank account , something else?

The new K-12 529 plans might be a good fit here. Investment would grow tax deferred and you can pull out 10k a year tax-free for educational expenses.

In Trump's America, you can use your 529 for high school expenses. Its the best vehicle.
