Yep China markets got closed down after hitting circuit breaker of a 7% loss. So far my 2016 is starting off like 2015, with a big lovely loss for the opener.

question is, do I max out my Roth for 2016 today or just put in a few k and dollar cost.... hmmm

You can add to your Roth without putting it into any specific investments.

Just add money to your Roth, but wait a bit to pick investments.

I'm about to dip my toe in some of the big energies in my 401k/IRA. They might come down some more in the next few years but BP is paying 7.7% and Shell is paying 8.2%.

I thought anything before April 16' went towards the 2015 contribution limit.

No. You have until then to contribute to 2015, but you can contribute towards 2016 on January 1st.

You can do either 2015 or 2016 right now (assuming you haven't already maxed them).
