There is a major difference between not liking the play calling and saying that our offense definitely has some issues and saying that you can call 80% of the plays as they get to the LOS.

It doesn't matter how many fans claim they can correctly call what play LSU will run at the line of scrimmage.

The problem is when the opposing defensive coordinator can.

No, not in terms of the game it doesn't. But that is what the guy was making fun of.

The point is if the morons here are right 75% of the time, how often are the DCs right? 90%? That means the DCs in the SEC only know a little more than the people on here. And also means that if they knew what we were doing 90% of the time, we would never ever score.

They are mutually exclusive.

Clemson's DC pretty much said we did nothing to surprise them.

yet they had to kick a clock burning field goal to win.

Clemson had one of the worst secondaries, statistically, in the entire country. We did nothing to exploit that. Mett had 120yds, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Agreed. And someone please tell me with all the play calling knowledge on here....why, on 2nd and 2, did we run 2 straight pass plays when we have one of the strongest backfields around that could pick up those 2 yards very easily. IMO - get that first down and we would have run the clock out on Clemson.

because clemson knew exactly what we were going to run, just like everyone else.

Hey im not saying i agree with those plays, i woul dhave ran quick dives for the yards, but if VA didnt get blown up and Mett has more time to throw a decent ball to Copeland we win that game.

Clemson had 9 guys in the box. The calls were actually correct. Mett missed a wide open WR on 2nd down.

Mett also had absolutely no time to throw the ball because the OL was getting blown up all night.

Oddly enough, earlier in the game there were like 2 opportunities to get a 1st down. One from a yard out and another from 2 yds out. I remember Hilliard not getting it on one and Hill not getting it on the other.

Then stop making him try 7-step drop play-actions. He should've been in the shotgun getting the ball out quickly. When your o-line is getting handled you don't make your lead-footed QB a sitting duck.

agreed but this could have been a situation where you just say i dont care how many people are there we need 1 yard per play.

You said we did nothing to exploit the secondary. We were clearly trying to. We were clearly trying to throw the football throughout the night and we just couldn't get any throws off. Yes Mett missed a wide open WR on a deep ball, but he still didn't have time all night to throw the ball. And it wasn't even close to always being a 7 step drop with PA.

Looks like it's time for Mett himself to realize this. Earlier in the season, he did say that he preferred to be under center so that it helps him see the defense better(as he put it).

2nd down was a perfect play call. WR was wide open. Mett completely missed him. That is 100% on the QB, not the play call.

Third down was a little confusing. Not sure why we didn't run the ball on third down, if for nothing else, to atleast make Clemson burn a timeout.

You don't exploit a secondary with 2 WRs on the field. And I watched the game again that night and the staff put Mett in play-action a ton.

Alexander got blown up again on the play an pushed back to within 2 yards of Mett. There was a DE in the line of the pass that Metr had to throw around and it was an 18 yard pass on the run. Tell me again how rolling your horribly immobile quarterback to the side of your line that had been getting destroyed all night, and having him throw an 18 yard pass, on the run, something he hasn't done consistently all year, all to pick up 2 yards when keeping clock running is the most important thing in the game...tell me please, how that is a good playcall. There is literally no objective observer who has called that series anything other than bizarre and baffling.
