See what I did there? It's annoying isn't it?

The difference in these mistakes, is that mine was an accidental typo, and yours was intentional, making yours even worse.

Good. No offense to the kid but we have to get better talent on our infield across the board. Scrappy slap-hitting 3rd basemen are not ideal in this league. We have tried to hide too many weak bats and it forces people like Mathis to try and be something he isn't. A guy like him should be hitting in the 8-hole for LSU.

Of course I watched him. He has gap power and that's it. He's not much different than Chris Reid except by reputation. He will never hit more than 12 HRs in the minors in one season. It's not about him...he was a good player for us during the season. We won't be back at "elite" level until we get some legit 4-5-6 hole type guys and we need for our corner IF's to be part of that in terms of power.

Chris Reid hit one ball over the fence in his LSU career. Mathis matched him in the 3rd game of his career at LSU. Chris Reid couldn't sniff a pro contract. Mathis came to LSU after being drafted. Chris Reid didn't even have gap power.

The only thing similar about he and reid is their size. Reid was polar opposite in terms of his approach at the plate. Reid was patient was was a singles/ slap hitter. Mathis was more of an aggressive hacker with gap power and power to hit it over the fence. He could hit 10 homers at lsu, which wouldve been great. To me, he was similar to mason katz, but not quite to that level as a hitter

I don't disagree. My main point was that we aren't winning anything significant again until we have 1-2 guys in our lineup with Mathis' hitting capacity...not 6-7 of them. When Mathis picks up a Woodie, he will be a gap/gap guy and nothing more. It's just my opinion and that's all. Best of luck to him though. My intent wasn't to belittle him.

Which makes mine not a mistake. You mean thanks. You’re welcome.
