everyone agrees that in a fight, you don't let the other guy back up, right?

I may be skipping a few steps, but it appears that you are making a case that if Jefferson was the one who kicked the guy on the ground, he should not be suspended at all by LSU because that is just fighting 101, correct?

I've downloaded the video, extracted the sound, and slowed it down. I can say that WITHOUT A DOUBT the guy is saying "5-0 5-0 5-0 JORDAN 5-0 5-0"

I'm continuing to listen and say what I think.

from what i could make out (which wasn't much) the fight was blown way out of proportion

Probably because you saw the tail end of it. You think ole boy laid down on the ground and said "kick me"?

video isn't going to help the police at all, at least this video
most of us hear/see different things, police will be the same

it comes down to the shoes and the dna swab. and since they've only checked one guy, it will all be laid on him or he will be completely cleared

I have a gut sense BRPD charges no one, don't think they'll "find" what is needed

So bmy and bayou2003, you've said fighting isn't a big deal and isn't worthy of a suspension from the team. You say kicking someone on the ground who may, or may not be, defenseless isn't a big deal because that's just what happens in a fight.

Are you saying if the person that kicked the guy on the ground in this video is proven to be Jefferson, not by us based on the video but by the BRPD based on their investigation, he should not even be suspended?

I'm saying that it depends on WHY he was fighting. If he was the instigator, suspend/kick him off the team (kick off if he was guilty of 2nd degree battery).

If he was fighting for a legit reason and he kicked the guy on the ground, then frick no, he shouldn't be suspended.

You know this for a fact?

fact in, have I read the warrant or participated in the investigation? No. Fact in do I have faith in a source? Yes.

put it this way.. the 'tread' matching his shoe cannot convict him -- but it could vindicate him.

What would be legit reasons?

A lot of people on the Rant have never been in or witnessed a bar fight.

A first year attorney would destroy this tape in court. Imagine what Nathan Fisher would do. If charges are filed it will be pleased down.

This comes from the article currently up on ESPN.

quote:

White has said that most of the initial statements investigators have taken were conflicting and seemed to contain a bias in favor of either the victims or the four named players. White has said he wants investigators to find more "objective" witnesses who do not have ties to either party in the altercation.

This coupled with the video doesn't prove anything one way or another. How The Doc says it isn't that complicated is confusing to me.

Tyson fought Holyfield for a legit reason. He then bit his ear. He was suspended

Some lines can never be crossed. A well known athlete kicked a defenseless man, reason or not. I dont see this ending well

The ending of the clip become very garbled and muddy and it's hard to deciphe but I'm trying.

The unknown voice in the video yells "HEY!" 4 times. After which he says "FIVE O" at least 3 times before clearly say "JORDAN!" followed by "JEFF!" he says "JEFF" 2 more times before claiming "FIVE O" at least 2 more times.

What I have so far.

Protecting himself, a friend, or anyone else. If that dude (or anyone involved with him) threw the first blow, I'd consider it aight.

I'm just disappointed that no fans stepped in to help JJ.

Can we perhaps get a few "legit reasons" for LSU football players to be in a fight a Shadys?

Notice that I said LSU football players, not bmy or his boys. Some may think it is not fair to be treated differently since you are football player, but I will counter that playing for LSU is a privilege, not a right.

Oh, well if you have a "source" we should all just wait for you to tell us what really happened.
