3. Ed O- dude is taking over a rough situation and has performed admirably so far. His first season as coach was rough but he seems to have corrected those issues.

Texas and Texas A&M were rough situations, not LSU - and the coaches that went there have arguably had more impact on their programs than LSU maintaining it's 3 loss regular season usual.

Nick Saban - obvious reasons - don’t have to like him
Les Miles - was never in favor of the hire, but became “my” coach when he turned down Mich
Bill Arnsparger - left to soon, but the college grind probably wore him out
Ed Orgeron - a work in progress - could move up very easily
Charles McClendon - can’t argue with his success, but easily the most frustrating on the list
Jerry Stovall - took the job in a tough spot
Gerry DiNardo - put us back in the game & couldn’t close the deal - my son played for him at IU
Mike Archer - Others that interviewed; Spurrier, Shanahan & Mack Brown - CFL DC today

Curly Hallman was so bad he should not be mentioned on any 'top coach' list. For those of us that endured those years he brought LSU down to the pentacle of despair...he was an awful coach and just as bad human being. Joe Dean should have been run out of town for hiring that idiot!!

Saban had one good year PERIOD.
The way people go to try and discredit what he did here is sad. I can only assume it’s irrational hatred because he’s now at Alabama.
Seriously if Saban only had 1 good season here then in 125 years how many good seasons have we had, 5? 6 tops?

My first thoughts: (not necessarily reality)
Bernie Moore – Coached 1st game I ever saw in person
Gaynell Tinsley – Family gathered around radio – happy to win a few
Paul Dietzel – Loved the Bandits - National Championship
Charles McClendon – good to sometimes very good but not great
Bo Rein – Tragic end to promising career – Never coached an LSU game
Jerry Stovall – up and down - a couple of years ok- a couple not so good
Bill Arnsparger – Probably my favorite HC – great defense
Mike Archer – started great but seemed to decline each year
Curley Hallman – like to forget this era – did upset Bama
Gerry DiNardo – Did "bring back the magic" to a degree
Hal Hunter – Interim HC for 1 game (defeated Arkansas)
Nick Saban –brought LSU back to the national stage – won NC
Les Miles – underachieved with superior talent – did win a NC
Ed Orgeron – against his hiring but maybe I was wrong
