IF that happens, and i am not throwing in the towel yet, those youngsters might have to turn much of their attention elsewhere; maybe a hobby, maybe new girl friends, etc. life really is not football.

+1 and then some, brother.

All the way back to Cholly Mac for me. The last decade of Tiger football has certainly been unlike anything I've ever seen.

Explain. How? I'd love to be wrong.

LSU was 9-4 this past year. We were a couple plays from being 12-2 and a top 5 team.

LSU improved on defense, realized the offense sucked and Miles went out and got a guy that helped Urban Meyer for 14 years. LSU has a more mature QB, a QB coach who spent years developing the spread, and Shep. We're going to be much bigger at the WR position. We'll have tons of mismatches against younger secondaries, like at Ole Miss, Alabama and even Florida.

LSU defense will easily be better than last year. We replace Charles Alexander with Drake Nevis. We replace Al Woods with Josh Downs. Kevin Minter has enough raw talent to easily offer more than Cutera or Riley. Shep is returning. Alem never really did a whole lot last year and was terrible against the run, so I don't believe anyone will be a drop off. Punting is great, kickoffs are great.

Enough?

Lots of good points and I hope yo're right. A concern not mentioned is the Oline, and I'm not sold on our line talent on either side of the ball. The offensive coaching we have will be the death of our program...talent can't over come poor coaching...repeat that,it's true.

Lucky kids didn't get to experience the Hallman era. That was the absolute worst. Don't think we'll go 2-9 again. Just saying.

12-2?? so you're assuming an SEC Champ game win in with your fantasy?
There are less plays that could have changed & LSU would be 6-7 (but I forgot, it's not rational to look at it that way).

quote:

LSU has a more mature QB,
More mature QB that looked like a true frosh last game after starting more than an entire season.
quote:

a QB coach who spent years developing the spread,
so what? we don't run the spread & he's not the OC.
quote:

and Shep.
And Shep???? Really, these same things were said last year. Just naive.
quote:

LSU defense will easily be better than last year. We replace Charles Alexander with Drake Nevis. We replace Al Woods with Josh Downs.
Then why didn't those guys start? What makes you think Downs will be a star next year? The same instincts that told you Shep & Randle would be? And Nevis already played a ton on this year's DL that got man-handled in virtually every game.
quote:

Kevin Minter has enough raw talent to easily offer more than Cutera or Riley.
Again, is this your same crystal ball that told you RS & Randle would be instant stars? There is no way to even remotely know this & you know that's true.
quote:

Alem never really did a whole lot last year and was terrible against the run, so I don't believe anyone will be a drop off.
I actually agree with this, but this is a hit on Miles. He should have been benched often this year.
quote:

Punting is great, kickoffs are great.
Yes, now I can rest at night.

The main point is that LSU was dominated in virtually every game at the LOS on both sides. Just watch the games. There is no reason to believe it won't continue. No new OL/DL coaches. If the new players are going to be so much better, then why couldn't they play this year on the shitty OL/DL?

Honestly, I hope you're right & I'm wrong & I support the hell out of LSU.
But my logic makes more sense to me than your hopes & opinion stretches.

Please tell me where I'm missing your point.

Billy Ray, you sure know how to pee in a man's cornflakes. Right now, a case can be made for either side of the glass half full/empty crowds. I for one fall on the full side and have 'hope' that next year looms bright for LSU. Of course it can all fall to heck in a handbasket but you can't say the tools aren't there to be much improved.

LOL
Look, I'm as passionate as the next LSU fan, but I've got much more important things in my life.
I'm just a realist. I see what's in front of me.

Fair enough brother. Just try looking 'all around' you instead of just what's in front. The scenery can be nice. Here's to ya.

Archer was a nice guy, even nicer than Les. Still, he didn't belong as an LSU HC. And neither does Les.

As compared to the positigers, who are more often than not posiMiles, for whom everything is great until LSU completely descends into Dinardo-land.

No doubt positigers would have partied all the way down on the Titanic. "Hey- we haven't hit the bottom yet. This is a great ship, completely un-sinkable."
